The City of Shelby, in partnership with Shelby  City Schools, Shelby St. Mary’s and ODOT, is pleased to offer “Shelby Safe Routes to School”. This program seeks to identify impediments that prevent our student population from enjoying safe travel routes to and from school. We will encourage walking and bicycle riding as a means of building physical fitness and social interaction. The first year of this program requires data collection that planners and engineers can use to help identify problem areas. WE NEED YOU!

At school registration ,you received a packet of SRTS information with a Parent Survey. If you did not receive this, additional Parent Surveys are available here.

By completing and returning the Parent Survey to your child’s teacher, your child is entered into a drawing to win a FREE bicycle and helmet. We have one bicycle and helmet per school building, so please return your completed survey to your child’s teach by September 9th to be eligible!

Shelby Safe Routes to School is a program that will continue through the years. The City of Shelby’s participation in this program provides opportunities for transportation and infrastructure funds to help alleviate the identified safety issues on our school travel routes.

We hope to provide all our youth with safe sidewalks, safe crossings and safe walking paths. We hope to provide a Safe Route to School.
