The Deputy Director of Public Service shall manage and supervise all public works and undertakings of the City of Shelby. This is in addition to performing his duties as Director of Utilities where he is in charge of the operations of all the municipal utilities of the City and is to see that the same are kept in continuous and efficient operation. Brad Harvey was appointed to this position in April 2003 after working in various positions within the Division of Electricity since 1987.

The department in the utilities that the public has the most contact with is the Municipal Utilities Office staff. The meters are read, all appointments are scheduled, and the billing and collections are done through this office. The office is open 8:00 am through 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and can be reached by calling 419-342-4085. Customer Service Representatives are available to provide information to the public and will insure that prompt service is given. Typically a 24-hour notice is required for connections or disconnections.
